Hico Candle Co. works out of Hico, a small town in central Texas. Every candle is hand poured from blended soy wax and finished with a dust cover. Made in the United States, in batches kept small so the quality holds from one pour to the next. Good wax, a steady hand, and a scent worth keeping.

The scent

Rouge opens with bergamot and a little pomegranate, then settles into warm amber at its center. Airy jasmine softens it, oakmoss keeps it grounded, and a clean musk carries it through the evening. There is a soft sweetness underneath, never sugary.

The overall impression is warm, ambered, and quietly expensive. It is the kind of scent someone notices when they walk into the room, without it ever taking the room over.
